Terms of Use & Privacy
These terms apply to everyone who browses, posts or responds to an ad on Lanka Market.
1. Using Lanka Market
Lanka Market is a classifieds platform for people and businesses in Sri Lanka. We provide the space for ads; we are not a party to any transaction between a buyer and a seller and we do not inspect, own or guarantee any item listed.
2. Your account
You must give accurate details when registering and keep your password secure. You are responsible for everything posted from your account. We may suspend accounts used for fraud, spam, harassment or repeated policy breaches.
3. Posting ads
Ads must describe a real item or service you are entitled to sell or rent, in the correct category and district, with genuine photos and a realistic price. Duplicate ads for the same item may be removed. All ads pass through moderation before going live.
4. Prohibited items
You may not advertise weapons and ammunition, drugs or illegal substances, wildlife or protected species, counterfeit goods, stolen property, human organs, adult services, government documents, or anything restricted by Sri Lankan law.
5. Promotions and payments
Promotions such as Urgent, Top, Featured and Premium are optional paid placements applied to a specific ad for a stated period. Fees are non-refundable once a promotion is active, except where an ad is removed through our error.
6. Content licence
You keep ownership of your photos and text, and grant Lanka Market a licence to display, resize and promote them on our website, apps and marketing channels while your ad is live.
7. Privacy
We collect the details you give us — name, email, phone, district and ad content — to run the marketplace, show your contact options to buyers and prevent fraud. We do not sell your personal data. You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time via support@lankamarket.lk.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Lanka Market is not liable for losses arising from dealings between users, including misdescribed items, non-payment or fraud. Follow our safety tips and take normal precautions before parting with money or goods.
9. Changes
We may update these terms as the service changes. Continued use of Lanka Market after an update means you accept the revised terms.
